Smarter! Microsoft released the new version of Bing must search for new features
On December 14, at an AI-themed event in San Francisco, Microsoft announced a series of updates to Bing in the hopes of making Bing become smarter by adopting the company’s AI research and establishing a new partnership with Reddit.
The company demonstrated how to inject AI intelligence into Bing’s search engine. A senior Microsoft executive reiterated that in fact, Bing has been widely used in search of a partnership with Yahoo. People just do not know it. Now, One-third of US desktop search results are completed on Bing.
The focus of these updates is to provide users with more conversational, nuanced answers. New features introduced today include: Smart Search, Smart Image Search, and Sessions Search.
“AI is powerful in finding information, but how to make that information meaningful is a real challenge,” said Kristina Behr, partner program and design project manager at Microsoft’s AI team.
In addition, Microsoft announced a collaboration with the social news site Reddit so that the latter can make more effective use of Bing’s search results. Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian confirmed the news.
“We think this is a new window that helps people discover new communities,” Oeynén said. “We can make both platforms work better.”
The partnership will also focus on filtering detailed, highly localized information from the Reddit post to Bing’s search to provide more detailed answers to users’ searches. As we all know, Reddit’s user interface is not friendly enough, so the alliance with Microsoft can Reddit content form more efficient, it is very necessary.
Bing’s position in desktop search may be much higher than some people’s imagination, but few people refer to Bing’s mobile search and how to integrate these new features into mobile browsers. Using Reddit’s data, Bing should move further in the mobile space.
