Low resolution photos fool Microsoft’s Windows 10 facial recognition capabilities
According to technology blog AppleInsider reported Dec. 22, the German security company SySS said this week that although Microsoft updated the facial recognition vulnerability with the “Autumn Creativity” update, in the older version of Windows 10, Microsoft’s Hello facial recognition feature was used A photo can be fooled.
SySS explained that just using a near-infrared camera to shoot, laser print low-resolution photos, you can fool the Hello face recognition feature of Windows 10 PC. SySS posted a series of YouTube videos to demonstrate the issue.
For those who have already installed the Fall Ideas Update, they still need to reconfigure the Hello feature to prevent hacking. Anyone who wants to compromise a computer through this vulnerability must do so through physical access.
Apple launched its Face ID, the Face ID system, on its iPhone X handsets. In order to prevent Face ID being deceived by photos, Apple used 3D mapped dot matrix projectors, selective attention detection and other techniques.
